Friendship In Marriage: The Closeness Couples Yearn For

Do you have a best friend you can rely on? Someone who knows all your secrets and loves you anyway? Studies show having a friendship in marriage is what couples desire the most. They yearn for a close, intimate connection with their partner. Emotional attachment is friendship, which we desire to see in couples. When this type of bond is missing, marriages can suffer. So how can you create or enhance friendship in your marriage?

Here are a few ideas:

  • Talk to each other every day. Talk not just about logistics but about your dreams, hopes, and fears.
  • Make time for fun. Do things together that make you both laugh.
  • Be there for each other during the tough times as well as the good ones. Let your spouse lean on you when they need to.
  • Be each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Encourage and support each other’s goals and ambitions.
  • Tell each other the truth, even when it’s challenging. Honesty is vital in any relationship but especially in marriage.

If you’re not already best friends with your partner, it’s never too late to start working on your friendship. It will take effort and time, but it’s worth it. Marriage without friendship is like a house without a foundation. So, build it today and watch your relationship thrive.
